I have been battling with a virus/trojan/malware from hell. The basic problem is that my wireless network connects as normal, but no internet browsers can connect. Nothing changed, just one day no more internet.

So I did all of the usual things, checked TCP/IP settings, ping, etc... and everything was working fine. I also run off of a free wireless router in my apartment building, and my wife's internet works fine (which is how I'm writing this!)

So, for those of you who know a thing about PC's, I read from various articles that it could be a Winsock problem. Edited registry, deleted Winsock/winsock 2, reinstalled Tcp/Ip. Didn't work.

I also opened Msinfo32 and checked out my network protocol, and there were 16 entries instead of the usual 10 for Winsock, which means it's corrupted, right? So (breathes deeply) I scanned the crap out of everything with Avira and Spybot, no dice. I'm at my wits end with this thing, I downloaded AVG and transferred it via flash drive and am performing full scan now.

I've also read that the spyware (or whatever the hell it is) could be plugging in false IP addresses for my DNS servers. My internet technically "works," but it's so slow that anything other than Google usually ends up in a network timeout. I fix Winsock, but upon reboot or firing up Firefox, I can see that the entries have again changed. None of my programs can seem to find this sneaky S.O.B.

You would be surprised how many pissed off people just like me are out there on the threads about this thing... and I don't even look at porn! Ha, I hardly do anything other than email, devart, and the occassional news and game site. Dirty bastards...

If anyone out there has any free advice, my beloved Deviants, I will be your willing and ardent slave if you can help me crack this nut.
