Artist's Comments

Took a break from sequentials to do this Sith Lord today, was in a Star-Warsy mood.

I was less than pleased with the shading, I'm still working on my technique. The layout was difficult as well, I wanted to go for one of those awesome movie-poster formats, was going to add a fleet of TIEs and maybe a Star Destroyer and balance it all out, but it just didn't work. I still have a long way to go before I feel like Dave Dorman! :D

Please comment, as this was practice for my Photoshop skills as well. I hope you like it!

P.S. - Darth Dracus is a Sith warlord during the era following the fall of the Galactic Empire. He emerges years after the destruction of the second Death Star.

(This is all fan junk I made up, of course. Star Wars copyright George Lucas)

This is excellent mate, youve truly captured the evil of a Sith, murdering multiple rebels at one time....Vader would be jealous of this guys Dark Side skillz! :XD:
By the way, you played a game called Mass Effect? if not i reckon its something youd enjoy!

Dracus is superb. The detail in his armour is fantastic.

Nice. I dig the full value shading, especially comes off well on your Sith Lord. The blurred background was also a nice touch. Is great work man.

"Cute? You mean like smurfs and sh**? Nah, I don't do cute."

Thank you much, I was fiddling with Photoshop for about an hour tring to decide what to do. Went with a gradient after I had meticulously cut out the background. :D Glad you like it!

The shading, eh.. if you couldn't tell I'm a huge Jim Lee fan, he is the master of dramatic comic shading in my opinion. I see so much line art with little to no shading at all, and I know this is usually for coloring purposes, but I just think it looks so much cooler when it's shaded. Still practicing, though.

Thank you very much! It took me all day to decide what his armor would look like. I liked it all except for his teeny-tiny loincloth, I should've made it bigger! Lol, makes it look like it's covering a teeny-tiny sith package! :D That won't do, we all know the dark side is stronger.

Mass Effect? Heard of it, but I don't have any next-gen consoles except the Wii. If i strike it rich I would love to get a 360, damn it!

Your shading looks great! Love how you slightly blurred the "unfaithful" in the back :D
He looks absolutely powerful with your design, and very intimidating :D The sharpness is very appealing

THANK YOU very very much, I was wary about the sharp/dullness and how my scanner makes my inks look so cRaPPY! Do you wrestle with your scanner?

Your comments are most appreciated, the Emperor is pleased with you...
